Three British cruisers were sunk by German submarines on Tuesday. It is believed that 700 lives were saved. Two of the submarines are reported to have been sunk. An armed German merchantman was captured by H.M.S. Bernick in the North Atlantic. Parliament was prorogued on Friday.
