The amount of information you will see varies over time and also depending upon the position and seniority held by the individual.
By viewing a series of volumes, you should be able to glean details of the life and career of a person as it changed over time.
To help navigate, there is usually a high-level subject index towards the front of each calendar, which shows the first page number for each featured government department, institution, society etc. Meanwhile, towards the back of the book there will be an alphabetised surname index, with later years giving a page number for the individual. Before pages are indexed for individuals, you can use the subject and name index together to move to the appropriate section of the volume and locate the person of interest.
Remember that the image counter to the bottom-right of the image viewer is indeed an image viewer and not a page counter! For example, if you navigate to Page 150 of 321 for the 1920 Calendar you arrive at the double-page spread pp 457e and 457f (pagination is not always straightforward!). For example, there is an index entry for a B H Slatterthwaite, Agriculture 246. Page 246 of the book is actually on image 27 of 321, and there we see that Satterthwaite [sic – not Slatterthwaite as in the index] was one of the Inspectors at the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries. For the curious, this Calendar for 1920 begins, after its subject index, at page 209 (for the Royal Household), because this is Part II (Civil Service List).
